Maximize Revenue Potential with Cupping Therapy
CloudWise Academy
According to Yelp Business Reviews, “cupping” is one of the top five wellness trends rising in popularity—growing over 150% between 2015 and 2019. WTS International lists cupping therapy as the second largest new trend of 2019, alongside other holistic wellness services.
With all of this growth, it’s imperative that you get cupping services onto your spa menu. And brands like Bellabaci make this easier than ever. With a variety of modern cupping supplies and professional massage oils, Bellabaci has created a system that combines the benefits of cupping massage with plant-based essentials for a truly unique spa service.
But the journey doesn’t end there. Once you’ve refreshed your menu and retail boutique the next step is discovering new ways to get clients through the door.
Utilizing SEO to Rank Your Cupping Services
Making sure that your business is valued by Google is extremely important. And there are many ways that you can increase your search engine optimization (SEO) potential:
1. Create a "Near Me" page.
Creating a “near me” page on your website should always be your first step. It provides a place for search traffic to land on your site. This page should have a title like “Cupping in YOUR LOCATION” or “The Best Source for Cupping Supplies & Services Near You,” and should utilize keywords such as:
- cupping near me
- cupping therapy near me
- cupping physical therapy
- hijama near me
- hijama therapy
- silicone cupping therapy
We chose these words specifically because they all have a local implication for search intent. Search terms with local or service-based intent are more likely to help your spa show up.
2. Use Google My Business categories.
If you don’t already have a Google My Business account for your spa, you should. For those of you that don’t, contact our specialists for info on how to get started.
Without a GMB account, it’s highly unlikely that you’ll show up in the map pack that comes before search results. The map pack utilizes Google Maps to offer location-based options, and it’s where most local search traffic is coming from. Ask your web team to select all categories that apply to your spa under your GMB account. It’s important that you don’t add in non-relevant categories. Only select those that truly apply to your services, such as:
- Spa
- Spa Resort
- Spa and Health Club
- Day Spa
- Facial Spa
- Medical Spa
3. Include cupping in email and social media campaigns.
Including cupping in your email, social media, and blogging efforts will kickstart traffic to the page from your loyal customers. If you don’t currently have an email newsletter, have your web and office teams develop a strategy to offer this service.
4. Start a citations campaign.
One of the important factors for ranking locally is the use of citations. Citations are like getting yourself listed in as many online “phone books” as possible. Discuss citation campaigns with your web team. If you want to see how your citations currently look, there are tools available.
5. Ensure your site is mobile-friendly.
Well over half of all traffic to your site is from a mobile device, so you need to be prepared for those potential customers. To test if your site is mobile-friendly, you can use Google’s Mobile-Friendly Test.
If your site doesn’t pass, you’ll need to ask your web team to make changes. A mobile-friendly website helps your business rank higher on Google. Having a site that isn’t suited to mobile devices also causes visitors to bounce from your site, which has negative SEO effects.
Bringing Your Cupping Services to Yelp
Yelp is one of the first websites to show up after the map pack when someone searches for cupping on Google, so it’s important to make sure that your business information is available there.
To rank your cupping therapy services on Yelp, you should:
- Claim your business
- Update your profile with a photo, address, business description, and website
- Fill out all of your service cities
- Use the “Acupuncture” category (others include “Massage Therapy” and “Traditional Chinese Medicine”)
- Add cupping photos with a detailed description and make sure to use the word “cupping” and / or “cupping therapy”
- Incorporate cupping therapy into your business description
Top ranking businesses all have updated photos that use the word cupping in the description, so this is vital to growing your spa on Yelp.
Making the Visit Count
Once you’ve made these changes, you’re going to start seeing a lot more web and foot traffic for your cupping services and products. While you’re gaining new client interest, your existing customers are going to want to take advantage of your new services as well.
Consider adding a cellulite treatment or cupping facial to your service menu. These treatments are perfect for those looking to try out cupping therapy for the first time, giving you several opportunities to upsell your retail products for at-home use.
