Pre-Service Patch Testing:
This product contains ingredients that may cause skin irritations and/or allergic reactions for certain individuals. A patch test is necessary prior to each application.
- 1. Using soap and water, cleanse a small area of the skin on the inner surface of the forearm
- 2. Apply a small patch of Waving Lotion to the area you have prepared for the patch test. Apply the Neutralizer, Lash Food Lotion, Lash Bond, and premixed Tint in 4 additional swatches next to the Waving Lotion
- 3. After 6 minutes, remove all of the products with a damp cloth
- 4. After 24 hours, review the skin where the patch was administered. If no irritation or inflammation is apparent, it's usually assumed that no hypersensitivity to the dye exists
Service Protocol:
1. Sanitize hands, put on gloves
2. Request the client remove their contacts or glasses if needed
3. Instruct your client to lie down in a comfortable position. It’s recommended to elevate their head slightly for practitioner comfort
4. Cleanse the brow and surrounding area using the Intensive Makeup Remover Foam on a 4x4 cotton esthetic wipe. Complete this step even if the client is not wearing makeup to remove all oils or dirt from the skin and brows. Wipe the area gently to dry completely.
5. Apply cotton rounds overtop of the client’s closed eyes for protection and comfort
6. Brush through the eyebrows thoroughly into the shape and design you wish to accomplish using a disposable mascara wand or Y-Brush. This also helps to separate the individual hairs
7. If necessary, use the Intensive Lash Bond with a disposable mascara wand sparingly on the brows to hold the shape desired.Remember to comb the bond through the brows and ensure that each brow strand is in the position desired
8. Massage the Intensive Cream 1 Waving Lotion sachet and open by cutting a small corner of the packet. Once open, apply a small amount to a microfiber brush
9. Begin applying the Intensive Cream 1 Waving Lotion onto the eyebrows carefully so not to interfere with the shape and design you have created
10. Fully saturate each brow hair strand beginning at the base of the brow and working towards the middle of the brow hairs. Avoid applying the solution to the tip of the brow as this can compromise the integrity of the hair and make it prone to breakage
11. If necessary, comb through the brows again using a disposable mascara wand or Y-Brush to ensure all hair strands are in place
12. Allow the Intensive Cream 1 Waving Lotion to process for 3-5minutes depending on the coarseness and thickness of the hair. Processing time should be adjusted depending on the individual’s brow condition and hair type
a. Processing time can be determined by how thick and coarse or thin and sparse the client’s brow hair is. For brow hair that is thick and coarse, you may need to process for the full 5 minutes. For brow hair that is thin and sparse, you may onlyneed to process for 3 minutes
b. For beginners, keeping track of your client's processing time is recommended because it impacts the neutralizing time later
13. Once you have thoroughly coated each brow, gently touch up the outer area surrounding the brow with a cotton swab to ensure no product is remaining on the skin. Do not rub the skin
a. If the product comes in contact with the skin and the client feels any burning or irritation, rinse thoroughly with water immediately and discontinue the service
14. Apply a small strip of plastic wrap overtop of the brow carefully, ensuring the brow strands are not flattened down or moved. This will trap in the client’s natural body heat to aid with processing.
15. After you have allowed the Waving Lotion to process for the appropriate amount of time, remove thoroughly with a dry cotton swab beginning at inner section of the brow and working towards the outer point. To remove the product, gently roll the cotton swab from the root of the brow strand to the tip, following the direction that you placed the hair
16. Next, massage the Intensive Cream 2 Neutralizer solution sachet and open by cutting a small corner of the packet. Once open, apply a small amount to a microfiber brush
17. Fully saturate each brow hair strand beginning at the base of the brow and working towards the middle of the brow hair. Again, avoid applying the solution to the tips of the brow hair as this may compromise the integrity of the hair and cause breakage
18. If necessary, comb through the brows again using a disposable mascara wand or Y-Brush to ensure all hair strands are in place
19. Allow the Neutralizer to process for 1 minute LESS than you processed the Waving Lotion. Processing time should be adjusted depending on the individual’s brow condition and hair type
21. Apply a small strip of plastic wrap overtop of the brow carefully, ensuring the brow strands are not flattened down or moved. This will trap in the client’s natural body heat to aid with processing
22. After you have allowed the Neutralizer to process for the appropriate amount of time, remove thoroughly with a dry cotton swab beginning at inner section of the brow and working towards the outer point. To remove the product, gently roll the cottonswab from the root of the brow strand to the tip, following the direction that you placed the hair
23. Lastly, massage the Intensive Cream 3 Lash Food Lotion sachet and open by cutting a small corner of the packet. Once open, apply a small amount to a microfiber brush and sweep over the brows to help nourish and condition
24. OPTIONAL: TINTING STEPS
a. For more instruction and information, please see the Lash & Brow Tinting Protocol
b. Ensure to patch test 24-48 hours prior to the service
c. Brow lamination may slightly lighten the color of the hair strand. We recommend tinting after a brow lamination service to achieve a more put together and finished look.
d. When processing tint after a brow lamination it is not necessary to leave the product on for the full 10 minutes. A 3-5 minute development time should be sufficient to achieve thedesired results.
e. Remove the tint using a dry cotton swab or esthetic wipe, do not use water to remove the tint.
